Cutoff shorts and a tee has basically been my uniform lately. Summer is officially here, although, it’s been hotter than heck for the last two weeks straight. It has been absolutely dreadful being outside. The humidity here in the midwest only makes it worse. I think the heat index has been well over 100 °F. I feel so bad for my boys because it’s been almost impossible to play outside without feeling like you are about to have a heat stroke. Since we just made the move into our new house, we have been finding lots to do around here, so I guess that has been ok.
I wanted to share my new favorite shorts that I have been pretty much living in these past few weeks. They are super comfortable and casual. I paired them with a basic typo tee. These types of shirts have been really popular this fall and now summer. I have also been loving these nude flip flops. I own several pairs of nude colored shoes because I relly like the way they look. It’s almost as if you are not wearing any shoes. Maybe that’s what I like.
We have also decided to move our two-year-old into a big boy bed because we didn’t want to reassemble his crib to only take it down again months later. Let me tell you, this has been a real treat to deal with. He is willing to stay in his room, but now that he can physically get out of bed, he chooses to play in every square inch of his room. He has napped a total of three times since we have lived here – all of which have been on the floor. He must just fall asleep in the middle of play. We do keep some toys in there only because he does love to play in his room during the day and has always liked toys with him as he falls asleep. He will stop playing if he is tired.
I am hoping that he is still just getting used to the idea of a new room and a new bed. He is obviously tired enough if he is falling asleep on the floor, but part of me is thinking that naps are long gone. On the plus side, he goes to bed earlier and wakes up later.
I don’t know.
Do kids this age absolutely need a nap if they are getting a decent amount of sleep at night? I feel like at almost 2.5 years he is still too young to drop them. No? My oldest napped until almost four.
Of course, I had to snap a few pics…
I hope everyone has a great rest of the week. I’ll just be over here going through more stuff and putting a bunch of crap away.
