I have been on a decorating, rearranging, moving things around back and forth and then back again frenzy as of late. With our basement being almost all done (I know I’ve been saying that for a while now, but we are just waiting on a few little things) we have been moving a lot of things around.
So how do you create a cozy corner at home? Well, it’s actually quite simple…pillows, blankets, adding dimension and different textures of course. I can’t tell you how many times, I have changed and rearranged this corner before I was satisfied with the results. Adding different levels of texture and dimension is what makes a corner like this so cozy feeling.
The toughest part is deciding on what type of furniture item you want. I knew I wanted a tub chair because anything much larger would have looked odd and out of place here. I think these chairs are also really easy to style and can fit in just about any corner of your home. My living room and kitchen space is made up of neutral colors and one of the trends that I have been loving are the pops of dark blue fabric and velvet throughout the house. I found the perfect chair for this space from Shopko. This chair is part of their brand new collection, A&I and it comes in many different colors of fabric and leather.
When adding texture and dimension to your space I also recommend finding a cute small end table. Just make sure it is would look proportional in your space. I went with a small round table that I think fit in really well. You can then add a picture frame, candle, maybe a small stack of books placed horizontally, a plant or a small decorative piece.
Blankets and pillows are the cheapest and easiest to do of them all. I found a simple basket and threw some pillows in there to give the space a little dimension. Plus it’s a great place to store unused blankets and extra pillows when not in use.
Finally, adding a lamp can really bring this whole look together. This can be a floor or a desk lamp. I particularly wanted a floor lamp, one that is adjustable and can be moved up and down such as the one shown below.
I have linked my favorite finds from Shopko here. If you haven’t checked out some of their new brands, you definitely should. Lots of great home styles that are unique and affordable for your home.
