Last week we traveled to Maui, Hawaii sans kids =) Let me tell you, our experience was very different this time around. The last time we were in Maui was for my sister-in-law’s wedding and Wyatt (now 5 years old) was only 18 months back then. He did not appreciate the 7-hour flight, shocking, right? He pretty much cried the whole time on the plane and I found myself imaging what jumping out of an airplane without a parachute would feel like. I was in a different state of mind.
We just got back from Maui, HI and let me tell you, stepping off that plane and getting hit in the face with the 20-degree weather was pretty brutal. This is also why I am posting so late. I wanted to take a partial break from everything. It was nice to just relax and not have to think about life and work. It also happened to fall on my birthday, so that was a major plus. More on this trip in my next post.
I am amazed that I can pull off a light cardigan in the middle of January. What is happening? I even busted out my peep toe booties…what????? We did finally get a little bit of snow as I am now typing this, but nothing like what some other states have been getting. We mainly have had flurries, but that’s pretty much it. We did get a serious ice storm where the city basically shut down for a few days…that was scary.
It is no mystery that oversized sweaters and cardigans are my jam. I sort of did a similar post last week on Layering A Fuzzy Winter Cardigan. Anyway, I came across another oversized cardigan that I have been wrapping myself in. This one does run on a larger side because I am wearing a size small here and it is still big on me. I typically like to wear them with just a basic tee and a simple necklace just because the sweater already makes a statement on its own.
Winter is in full swing around here. Surprisingly, we have barely had any snow, which is a bit odd for us. We have, however, had some exceptionally cold days with wind chills dropping to -30 degrees. I have been layering like crazy. Even at home, I have the heater on, the fireplace going, and wearing layers upon layers. I get cold easily…apparently.
I am not big on New Year’s resolutions, but I do try to make smarter choices. I constantly have to remind myself to drink more water. I seem to forget and get carried away with my day. The last few years I have been pretty inconsistent with my workouts. Now as I am getting older, staying healthy is something that I am taking more seriously.
Today I wanted to share with you a few items that I have been loving. First, these jeans have been on repeat…a lot! The wash is lighter with almost like this acidic / tie dye-ish look. These in particular are much more subtle than some of the other colors that I have seen. I have been a huge fan of this exact style, but they come in a variety of shades and colors, so be sure to choose the correct wash. The ones I am linking are the exact style I am wearing.
The weather the last few weeks has been really cold, brutally cold is actually more like it. It’s days like these that make going outside really difficult. I thought, what better time to give you a glimpse into my kitchen then today. We’ve had our fireplace going and leaving the comfort of our home to go outside to take pictures has been a dreadful thought. I also couldn’t think of a better time than to make some drinks and stay in.
I used to use white strips to whiten my teeth for a long time, but can honestly say that it was a much dreaded process. The gel would come off the strip and get in my mouth which caused me to constantly spit down the drain like some deranged camel. The box would last me forever because I couldn’t get myself to use it very often. The struggle was real, folks.
Alright, it is officially crunch time and the countdown is on. Here are some last minute “15 great gifts for the dudes in your life”. Some of these gifts would be perfect as stocking stuffers or for a guy that you just don’t know what to get or for “that one” that has everything.
